Managing Editor Job Objective: Sell advertising to serve readers with quality health, beauty and luxury lifestyle services and products.

Managing Editor Job Description:

  • Provide a Managing Editor Letter quarterly for each publication
  • HOST Quarterly advertiser networking event i.e. Hot Off the Press parties: Secure venue, food, drinks. Invite clients and potential clients
  • Proofreading and editing assistance as needed
  • Enhancing sales staff accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members
  • Service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing your daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors
  • Adjust content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor
  • Submit proposals by referring to price lists and product literature
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly/annual territory analyses
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc
  • Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies
  • Provide historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Manage your own time and share calendar (standard availability M-F business hours)
  • Daily communication and support from the Affiliate Publishers/ Managing Editors Nationwide, MIND BODY SOUL Magazine Home Office and Executives

Weekly day range:

Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm CST (30 hours per week)

Experience:

  • Customer service: 3-5 years of exceptional rapport and relationship building
  • Time management expert
  • Daily self awareness of goals and needle moving efforts
  • Strong phone presence and ability to handle a high volume of calls and keeping all information well organized   
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills, keeping track of leads and scheduling
  • Be a self starter and highly reliable

  • Be computer savvy and knowledgeable with using Excel/Google Sheets
