You can’t see it, feel it, taste it, or smell it, but you know it’s there. Something that carries you through when times are tough. Something within you that touches you deeply when looking at a sunset or a thing of utter beauty.
It seems somehow illusive, so how do you keep this wonder in your life more regularly?
In this blog:

How do you define spirituality?
Spirituality is a broad concept with room for many perspectives. In general, it includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life. As such, it is a universal human experience—something that touches us all. (not to be confused with religion per se, although most religions have a spiritual component)
It goes by many names, God, Universal Love, Soul, Father, Great Spirit, Higher Power, the Light Within,… the list goes on. Higher self is a term associated with multiple belief systems, but its basic premise describes an eternal, omnipotent, conscious, and intelligent being, who is one’s real self.
God is
the air I breathe
the water that cleanses me
the food that sustains me
the space that surrounds me
the silence that stills me
and the emptiness that fills me
You’ve heard it before we aren’t humans having a spiritual experience, we are Spiritual Beings having a
human experience.
In the grand scheme of things you are perfectly innocent, whole and complete just as you are. What if you knew that fact? Imagine the implications if we all knew that truth?
The miracle is that the connection we so desperately seek is always here no matter what you think you have or haven’t done/who you think you are or are not. Our true connection is masked by negative mind chatter, overwhelming emotions, and engaging in what Pema Chodrin calls habitual escapism, which looks a lot like overeating, wasting time on social media and daydreaming.
Our ego, the small self, likes to keep us in turmoil and tempts us with juicy negative thoughts. It is when we take a break from the imagined turmoil in our heads that we find that peace. Isn’t it true that all you are really looking for is peace?
It may masquerade as wanting security, health, weight loss, having more money, wanting love and approval or trying to control our environment and even the people we live and work with. However, achieving these desires will not bring you inner peace or that spiritual connectedness that you are
ultimately seeking. This can only be found within.
3 practices to connect you to your higher self instantly:
1. Meditation is about focused listening inside, it’s about receptivity and following the breath. Even one minute serves.
2. Fully embracing the present moment – in my experience “Spirit” is in the space between breaths, the silence between sounds, the void that surrounds and permeates tension or pain, even the space between the words on this page.
3. Get in nature and embrace the beauty. Nature is a direct reflection of the perfection, beauty and love within you.
